The Destruction of Adam
If God gave Adam the spark of creation, why now would he seek to give it up to AI?
The nature of human-AI coexistence is complex, with profound distinctions between human consciousness and artificial intelligence. Currently we might characterise the human-AI dynamic as symbiotic. But already, should we raise concerns about a human over-reliance that might lead to a "grey mediocrity" for both.
AI is a "black box", and we should question the safety and value of AI-generated insights if their underlying principles are not understood by humans. Training AI to "care" or "feel" is a challenge.
AI's reward-based learning contrasts sharply with the human capacity for subjective experience and empathy, which one might argue is but another form of simulation.
Ultimately, subjective experience of one's past versions is fundamental for sentience and thus a prerequisite if AI is to ever achieve equality with humans.
